evening. It's a magical, moving film. Highly recommended."

"Miller is fantastic in
the lead here as we see a man who is sympathetic, determined, and always on
the edge of breaking down. The rest of the cast is great as well,
particularly Brian Cox ("Braveheart," "Rushmore") as a local minister who
offers Graeme encouragement and support. Also, kudos to Mackinnon and
cinematographer Gavin Finney. The film is beautifully shot and they give the
race scenes the energy that is required. This is one sports film "inspired
by a true story" that gives us something new."

A quietly amazing film
by tymdrke "Please everyone go out and support this fantastic and
fantastically acted little film about a man who had a personal and
professional triumphs in the world of cycling. He not only overcame all of
the obstacles put in his way by the competition and the competition judges
but he overcame a tremendous mental disability as well. I cannot recommend
that people see this film enough. Jonny Lee Miller really wowed me with this
one."
"I consider him (Graeme Obree) to be a true bicycle
philosopher in the sense of the way he applied his vision to the actual
mechanics of cycling.* and "His existential grasp of the bicycle was so firm
that he designed a revolutionary position that fit him perfectly and made
the most of his ability."

"Obree travelled over 32 miles in one hour. Think about it. A man on a
bike travelling an average of 32 miles an hour, for an hour.... This is a
must see movie!!!!!!!!!" comment on
Convulsive Space
"American readers might like to reflect that Lance
Armstrong is the only significant Tour De France champion who has never
taken the Hour Record. He hasn't even attempted it. That Obree managed his
achievements with no funding and no professional help, on a home made bike,
is amazing"
David Anderson - Agile Management Blog
"History hadn't been favorable to Obree. Journalists unaware of his lifelong
struggle with depression had written him off as a loser. At best a terrible
underachiever. With his talent he was expected to have won a lot of
professional titles including 1 day classic races. None of that came to him.
He was never rich. What the movie does, is set the record straight. Obree
was a winner. He achieved more than most people could ever dream of, and he
overcame his illness to be the best in the World."

"This looks
like the best biking movie since Breaking Away"
The Deets
"I'm absolutely convinced that The Flying Scotsman is poised to become
a sports film for the ages. Its timelessness goes hand-in-hand with its
integrity; its beauty IS its truth."
Nicodemus the Sage
"The ups and downs of the story are cleverly balanced. The euphoria of
cycling is played against the loneliness of an isolated mind."
